Dear Leman Academy East Tucson families,
We understand that these are challenging times right now and appreciate your support as we work hard to keep everyone informed as we receive updated directives from State of Arizona officials. Please know that we want nothing more than to provide a safe & healthy educational environment for our scholars and staff.
The first day of school is Thursday, August 6th, our originally scheduled start date. In-classroom learning will not begin until a later date. On or before August 7th, the Governor’s Office will be releasing the requirements necessary to resume classes on campus. All instruction will take place at-home, regardless of the option you selected earlier in the month. This is as per Executive Order #2020-51, issued by Governor Ducey.
The following exceptions are in effect:
Scholars of essential workers and those without access to technology at home are eligible to attend in-person, given the following guidelines:
- Scholars will be in the cafeteria or gym, in individual desks spaced at least 6′ apart.
- Scholars will need to bring lunch, snacks, and a water bottle from home, as well as a backpack with some basic school supplies.
- Masks will be required for all scholars and supervising staff members.
- Our Chromebook supply is limited and we ask that any scholars attending who have their own Chromebook, laptop, etc. please bring that with them.
- Scholars may be dropped off as early as 7:15 am, and After Bell will be available until 5:00 PM for these scholars.
Please note: Supervision will be provided by a combination of Leman Academy staff, NOT classroom teachers. These supervising adults will NOT be providing direct instruction. Their role is to ensure the safety and well-being of the scholars in attendance and to assist them with logging in to their remote learning program & following the schedule set by their assigned classroom teacher.
The in-person learning outlined above must be reserved in advance. It is not on a drop-in basis. If you meet the requirements, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your scholar(s) name(s) and grade levels, the best contact information for you, and whether your scholar(s) will be able to provide their own device (Chromebook, laptop, etc.).
Class rosters are being finalized and parents will be contacted by their scholar’s teacher(s) early next week with more details and a greater explanation of what remote learning will look like. The first two days of school will be a virtual orientation and much more guidance about expectations, etc.
If you purchased an EDU Kit for your scholar and would like to pick it up prior to school starting please call the front office at 526-0474 to arrange a time and date for us to have it in the front lobby for you. At this time, scholars and parents are not permitted on campus to visit classrooms. If you have any additional questions please contact either of our Vice Principals at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
