Tax Credit Donations FAQ’s

Tax Credit Donations Support your School and lower your taxes!

Arizona law provides a tax credit for contributions to public schools to support extracurricular activities or character education. A Tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in your Arizona income tax liability. An individual may contribute as much as $200, and a couple filing jointly may contribute as much as $400 to a public school and receive the money back in the form of a tax credit.

The state tax credit is available to ALL qualifying individual Arizona state taxpayers, you do not need to have a child enrolled in a school to take advantage of this state tax credit. Contributions may be made until April 15, 2018 for your 2017 Arizona state tax return. Any contributions made before January 1st may also be used as charitable tax deductions on your 2017 federal return. Any contributions after January 1st would be eligible for your 2018 federal return.

Contributions to Leman Academy of Excellence’s extracurricular activities are eligible for Arizona tax credits. Extracurricular activities are optional, noncredit programs such as educational field trips, character enrichment programs, athletics, musical theater and any other supplemental programs.

The Arizona State Tax Credit is not a deduction- it’s a tax credit and you do not need to itemize. For example if you are married and filing jointly and owe $800 in state income tax, you can make a school tax credit contribution for $400 and receive a $400 credit on your Arizona income tax return.  For details on the AZ Tax Credits for "Contributions made or fees paid to Public Schools" go to www.azdor.gov.  You can also look under the Forms Tab for AZ Forms 322 and 301.  Please consult with your Tax Advisor about your ability to participate.

General Job Description

Afterbell Staff is responsible for the ensuring daily operational needs of the School After Bell program. After Bell Staff are directly responsible for maintaining the After Bell program’s compliance with Leman Academy Norms and Scholar Expectations. As well as ensuring the health and safety of all scholars is being met after school.

Line of Authority/Reports to: Afterbell Staff shall be directly responsible to the Afterbell Coordinator and Site Principals in providing services required for the administration of the school in order to assure the smooth, efficient operation of after school care in Afterbell.

Works with: Vice Principal, Principal, Head of School’s, Faculty, Office Staff, Department Heads, Families and Scholars of Leman Academy of Excellence, and vendors who may provide services for our scholars.

Job Goal: Afterbell Staff for Leman Academy serves in a pivotal role to provide care for all scholars enrolled in the Afterbell program within each site.

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and 12 months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Food Handler’s Card.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • TB Test; TB test must be within a twelve month period of start date or a new test is required.
  • Attend eighteen hours of annual training.
  • Child Care experience preferred.
  • Working Knowledge of child care regulations and safety practices.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact school community with an ability to build strong relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships.
  • Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment.
  • Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment; i.e. fax machine, copier, computer, etc.
  • Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights and move them to other locations.

Duties and Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure all Afterbell operations are in compliance with State Licensing child care regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for scholars and staff. Comply with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, child care.
  • Ensures confidentiality and adherence to FERPA in all areas.
  • Follows all sanitation regulations and regularly maintains all work areas.
  • Regularly participate in any staff trainings, continued education or staff meetings.
  • Prep Afterbell areas, as well as cleanup and maintain stock of any regularly needed materials.
  • Create a structured Afterbell program by following regular schedules, lesson plans, outdoor activities and ensuring all schedules/plans adhere to Leman Academy Norms and Scholar expectations.
  • Assists scholars with homework, outside recess and scheduled activities.
  • Help implementation of promoting positive behavior and accomplishing homework goals during Afterbell.
  • Identifies and resolves discipline issues within the Afterbell program on a daily basis, escalating issues as needed to Afterbell Coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain effective client, vendor, family and community-based organizations relationships.
