Leman Academy of Excellence is an independently operated, TUITION-FREE public charter school with open-admission policies. Leman Academy follows the Pupil Admission Requirements for charter schools set forth in A.R.S. §15–184 found on www.azed.gov/charter-schools.
WHO SHOULD APPLY: All parents are welcome to fill out an application in order to enroll their child. Leman Academy of Excellence is its own educational institution and therefore is not part of a school district, so there are no boundaries regulating scholar enrollment to attend Leman Academy. Therefore, scholars may attend Leman Academy of Excellence regardless of their address or location and we shall not limit admission based on ethnicity, national origin, gender, income level, disabling condition, or proficiency in the English language (per A.R.S. 15-184).
PLEASE NOTE: Leman Academy of Excellence does have the right to review a child’s educational records and may refuse to enroll a child who has been expelled or is in the process of being expelled from another educational institution (per A.R.S. 15-184).
WHEN TO APPLY: Enroll now
ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE DURING ENROLLMENT: During Enrollment, Leman Academy of Excellence shall enroll all eligible scholars who submit a timely application, and will accept all applications on a rolling basis unless the number of applications exceeds the capacity of a program, class, or grade level. Leman Academy will function accepting scholar applications on a first come, first served basis during the Enrollment period.
Parents will be notified of their child’s enrollment once a completed application/enrollment packet has been received as long as there is an opening in a particular program, class, or grade level.
WHEN APPLICATIONS EXCEED CAPACITY DURING ENROLLMENT: During Enrollment, once the number of applications to Leman Academy exceeds the number of available seats so that a program, class or grade level has reached capacity, parents will be notified that we have reached capacity and their child will be included within a lottery to determine enrollment and wait-list numbers.
We will continue to accept applications until the deadline of the Enrollment period, and once our Enrollment period is closed, only the applications completed during the Enrollment period will be included within the lottery pool. The lottery results will determine an applicant’s wait-list number, and parents will be notified of their child’s wait-list status.
Arizona Lottery Process
If registration exceeds capacity, all scholars who apply during the open enrollment period and are eligible for enrollment will be assigned a unique number and placed on a list (by number). The list is sorted using computer-generated, randomized numbers. Each entry is assigned a Lottery ID number depending on where they landed in the sort. Enrollment vacancies will be filled by grade, beginning with the highest grade, if registration exceeds capacity, and will continue in descending order (grade eight, grade seven, grade six, and so forth) until all vacancies are filled for all grades; enrollment acceptance will be extended to scholar in the order of their assigned Lottery ID (lowest to highest). To ensure authenticity and integrity of the lottery process, the randomization of computer-generated Lottery ID assignments will be overseen by a school administrator, a parent representative, and at least one member of the board; the final sort will be printed and signed by all witnesses. The lottery ID will be used for the upcoming academic year only.
ENROLLMENT PREFERENCES: A charter may give enrollment preference to and reserve capacity for scholars who are children, grandchildren, or legal wards of any of the following (per A.R.S. 15-184):
- Employees of the school
- Employees of the charter holder
- Members of the governing body of the school
- Directors, officers, partners or board members of the charter holder
- Preference also will be given to existing Leman Academy Scholars who are transferring to another Leman Academy campus
*Note- Scholars must complete the year at their current location in order to be eligible for priority status at a different location
PLEASE NOTE: If remaining capacity is insufficient to enroll all scholars who submit a timely application, Leman Academy shall select scholars through the lottery except that preference shall be given to siblings of a scholar selected through the lottery at Leman Academy of Excellence (per A.R.S. 15-184).
Leman Academy of Excellence does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities, including in admission and enrollment. Leman Academy of Excellence abides by the procedures mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and will provide eligible students with disabilities a free appropriate public education (FAPE), including following Section 504 accommodation plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
