MARSHA JONES - PRINCIPAL

Marsha Jones
My name is Marsha Jones and I currently reside in Douglas Az. I have a Master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Learning Disability, a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies and a Diploma in Elementary Education. My professional experience includes over 17 years of classroom teaching in which I have taught grades 1,2 and 3. It is one of the most gratifying experiences to see students grasp the content and knowledge imparted to them through the building of relationship and in turn using it to become a positive contributor to society.

For the past 3 years, I have also had the opportunity to mentor other teachers, through my role as Instructional Leadership Team Member. This role afforded me the opportunity to provide the coaching and support needed to orient and better equip the teacher for their assigned role in the classroom. It also enabled me to assist in the implementation of the schools curricular and programs that foster an increase in the overall management of the school and by extension improving student academics. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in K-12 Leadership Program.

It is my hope that this field of study will deepen my knowledge and broaden my understanding of the roles of educational leaders. It will further expose me to different innovative strategies and theoretical principles, theories, research, policies and practices that undergird educational organizations. I am excited to join this great team and look forward serving as the Vice Principal for Leman Academy Sierra Vista Campus as I continue to make a positive impact on students’ holistic development.

SANDRA WILLIAMS - LEAD KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Sandra WilliamsI was born, educated, and raised in the Montgomery, Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement. I received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education at Alabama State University and a M.Ed. in the same field at Auburn University at the Montgomery campus.

I began my teaching career at Ft. Rucker Primary School and later married in 1981 and moved with my husband, Stan, to Germany and taught at Erlangen Elementary School. After living there for three years and enjoying the travel and culture in Europe, we had a daughter, Brittany our last year in country. When Brittany was five months old, my family and I then relocated to our final Army duty station at Ft. Huachuca and have lived in Sierra Vista ever since.

My daughter was educated in Sierra Vista Public schools and attended undergrad at ASU and earned a Masters from University of Phoenix. She married this past April, 2016 and we now have a son-in-law, Ryan.

I have taught locally for 28 years at Bella Vista, Carmichael and Town and Country Elementary Schools as well as Joyce Clark Middle School (formerly Sierra Vista Middle School). I received certifications in Middle School English and also served as a Reading Specialist there. At JCMS, I was also co-sponsor of the Kiwanis Builders Club and was recently notified that the afterschool club received the Kiwanis International Builders Club of the year for the third year straight, 2013-2016! I enjoyed helping students see beyond our campus and serve the community and support international causes.

Throughout the years, I have been proud to keep in touch with many area families and watch children I have taught go on to their own college education as well as other careers. It also a joy to see many of them in the workforce of our city.
